New Street Medical Centre has a standard 10-15 minutes consultation time but longer consultation times are available for appointments include medical reports, surgical procedures, pap smears, multiple or complex concerns etc.

APPOINTMENT SERVICES
New Street Medical Centre will continue to offer telehealth consultations and face to face appointments as required.
All patients can book a telehealth appointment or a face to face appointment with their usual Doctor online through HOTDOC or by calling the medical centre to request a consultation.
Medicare has made changes to bulk billing incentive rules for telehealth consultations in effect from 1st of October 2020. Accordingly, fewer of our patients will qualify for bulk-billed telephone consultations however they will still receive a Medicare rebate.

During your telephone consultation if the Doctor determines that you require a face to face appointment, this will be arranged during the phone call. You will only be charged for the face to face consultation and the normal fees will apply.
In view of the current pandemic, our clinic services are as follows:
Waiting for your appointment
Patients will be screened prior to booking a face to face appointment and on arrival for any respiratory symptoms (fever, sore throat, runny nose, cough, shortness of breath, loss of taste or smell, extreme tiredness). Social distancing and capacity restrictions will apply whilst waiting for your appointment in the waiting rooms. If the waiting rooms are full you may be asked to wait in your vehicle.
Suspected COVID-19
Getting tested for coronavirus (COVID-19) is considered medical treatment and it is one of the four reasons you can leave home. If you or your family have symptoms, no matter how mild, please get tested at one of the sites listed below. If you have symptoms, you must return home immediately after the test and remain in isolation until you receive the results.

Scripts and Referrals
All repeat prescription and referral requests will be completed during a telehealth appointment. Our online script and referral request via HOTDOC have been disabled temporarily.
Abnormal test results
Any test result requiring follow-up will usually be via telephone appointment unless other arrangements have been made by your Doctor. You will be contacted either by SMS or telephone if your result requires a follow up so that you may make the necessary arrangements.
Procedures and wound care
These services will be provided with a clinic attendance as usual.
Iron Infusions
We are not providing iron infusions until further notice.
Home visits
The doctors providing nursing home visits will continue to do so. Home Visits will be at the discretion of the Doctor.
Vaccinations
We will continue to provide a vaccination service for our patients. Childhood Vaccinations are important and should not be delayed. Vaccination appointments will continue as scheduled with our Practice Nurses. Adult and other scheduled vaccinations / injections are also important and should not be delayed. These appointments will continue as scheduled with our Practice Nurses.
