45-49 year old Health Check
Eligible patients must be aged 45-49 (inclusive) who are at risk of developing chronic disease. Factors that the GP may consider include, but are not limited to: lifestyle risk factors, biomedical risk factors and family history of chronic diseases. A health check at this stage of life can assist patients to make the necessary lifestyle changes to prevent or delay the onset of chronic disease.
Annual Health Assessments > 75 years
A health assessment of an older person is an in-depth assessment of a patient aged 75 years and over. It provides a structured way of identifying health issues and conditions that are potentially preventable or amenable to interventions in order to improve health and/or quality of life.
Children’s Health
We love children and know they are a source of great joy to every family. We provide the health care required through each stage of a child’s life marking milestones, providing advice and dealing with the everyday illnesses children experience. We provide a complete range of children’s health services and we are a Medical Centre that parents trust for their children’s health needs.
Comprehensive Health Checks
This is an overall health assessment that will enable you and your doctor to identify current and potential health problems. This will allow you both to develop an ongoing health plan specific to you.
CVC Program
The Coordinated Veterans’ Care Program (CVC Program) is a Department of Veterans’ Affairs (DVA) program to better manage and coordinate primary and community care for Gold Card holders who are most at risk of being admitted or readmitted to hospital.
Medical Assessments
We perform a range of medical assessments including
pre-employment medicals, driver’s licence, taxi drivers, life insurance and superannuation examinations.
Comprehensive Medical Assessment (Aged Care Facility)
CMA’s involve a personal attendance by the resident’s Doctor to undertake a full systems review, but are not a substitute for normal medical care.
Where a resident’s Doctor has contributed to a care plan for a resident, the resident is eligible to access Medicare items for certain allied health and dental services on referral from their Doctor.
GP Management Plans
GP Management Plans can be arranged for any patient with a chronic disease. The process involves you, your GP and another health care provider forming a written plan of management outlining your care. Your medical, physical, psychological and social needs are all considered during the development of the plan. These plans may assist with Medicare funded allied health support.
Sexual Health
Our Doctors offer best practice sexual and reproductive health clinical services including fertility, family planning, erectile dysfunction, contraception, counselling and menopause. Some of our doctors are also perform insertion of contraceptive devices such as Implanon. This procedure requires a specific appointment type. Please speak to reception to organise a consultation.
Minor Surgical Procedures
At New Street Medical Centre, we are equipped with a well-appointed procedure room and only use
hospital-standard autoclaved sterilised instruments and equipment.
Many of our doctors are able to perform simple surgical procedures such as:
- Skin biopsies
- Excision of lesions, warts and skin tags
- Ingrown toenail repair
- Incision and drainage of abscesses
- Cryotherapy
- Repair of skin lacerations
- Implanon insertion and removals
- Wound care
- Plaster application and removal
